Win of the Day
Undefeated The Philippine padel team's run at the Asia Pacific Padel Cup in Taguig, sweeping every nation on home soil to take the gold.

Team Philippines swept padel gold at home

Padel Pilipinas went unbeaten at the Asia Pacific Padel Cup in Taguig, beating seven nations to win the gold on home soil. Held July 13 in Taguig, the tournament drew teams from across Asia and the Pacific. The Filipino side did not drop a single tie, and captain Jason Tamayo was named Most Valuable Player. The men's pairing closed out the final against Pakistan 6-3, 6-3.

Why it matters  Padel is young here, and the national team is already the one to beat at home. Proof that new courts and steady coaching pay off fast.

OFW DeskTue & Fri

The recurring desk for kabayan working abroad and their families.

Peso watch
Philippine peso per 1 US dollar, latest market close
61.70
Slightly weaker on Jul 15, near 61.70, which means a bit more pesos for every dollar sent home.
OWWA corner

Returning to the Philippines for good? OWWA's reintegration and livelihood help for returning OFWs is ongoing. Keep your OWWA membership active through the OWWA Mobile App so your welfare benefits and training access stay open.

Scam watch

The DMW is warning against illegal recruiters exploiting Middle East tensions and fake work-abroad offers on social media. Red flags: upfront reservation fees of tens of thousands of pesos, jobs on a tourist visa, and misused agency logos. Confirm the agency license and job order at dmw.gov.ph before paying anything.

Everyday Wins

Home advantage is built, not given. That padel team did not win at home by luck. They put in the courts, the coaching, and the quiet hours of practice. Whatever you are building, keep showing up. The reps compound.

Quick Hits
Sports move: Sibol, the national esports team, just locked direct berths in Mobile Legends and Valorant for the 2026 Esports Nations Cup. A growing lane for young Filipino talent.
Recognition: the DMW was honored at the GovMedia awards in Singapore for its OFW-centered services. Small sign that support for kabayan abroad is improving.
Learning move: finish one free TESDA module this week and screenshot the certificate. It is small, real proof of effort for applications.

Salamat for reading, kabayan. Today's small move: enroll in one free course, then check that your OWWA membership is current.
