DIGITAL SKILLS Ā· PRACTICAL EXERCISE

₱0 course fees: turn digital basics into a useful file handoff

Practice naming, checking and sharing a file that another person can open and understand.

A neatly named attachment can show care before anyone reads your CV. TESDA’s public catalogue lists Microsoft Digital Literacy. Use it to strengthen the basics, then try our simple handoff exercise: one fictional document, one clear version and one useful message.

  • Make a fictional workshop information sheet and test whether its filename, contents and sharing instructions agree.
  • This is practice you can explain, not a job offer, professional license or claim that you completed a course.

Build a handoff in three steps

Original illustration of a woman organizing folders beside a laptop before handing over a document.

A useful handoff makes the current file and the next action clear. Original AI-generated illustration for PWE.

  1. Give the reader a useful starting point

Create a one-page information sheet for an imaginary community workshop. Invent the topic, venue and contact name, and mark the document ā€œFictional practice exercise.ā€ Include what happens, when, where and the action the reader should take. Use headings that still make sense without color.

  2. Make the file easy to identify

Save an editable copy and a PDF preview. Choose a filename such as Workshop-Information-2026-09-30-v1, then keep one clearly identified current version. Open the exported file yourself. Check page breaks, dates, readable text and whether important details disappeared during export.

  3. Test the recipient’s experience

Draft a short handoff message saying what the file contains and whether you want review or action. For a cloud link, check the intended viewing permissions without opening access to everyone unnecessarily. If you cannot test access from another permitted account, record that limitation instead of claiming the link works.

A small task with visible evidence

Imagine your first draft says the workshop starts at 9 a.m., while the handoff message says 10 a.m. That mismatch is the work: spot it, decide which fictional brief is correct, and update both places. Fancy formatting does not rescue an inconsistent instruction.

Keep a short change log with three entries: the problem you found, what you changed and how you checked it. For example, you might replace a vague filename, fix a clipped line in the PDF and clarify that the recipient should review the schedule. These are observable actions you can discuss in an interview.

Try this handoff message

ā€œAttached is the fictional workshop information sheet, version 1, dated September 30. Please review the schedule and location. I checked that the PDF opens and that its details match this message. This is a practice sample; it does not describe an actual event.ā€

Adapt that wording to the checks you actually performed. If you have only checked the file on your own device, say so. Do not claim a colleague approved it or invent a completed project for a real client.

Before you call it finished

  • The filename, date and version are clear.
  • The document and message give the same instructions.
  • The PDF remains readable on a small screen.
  • Any sharing permission is intentional and checked.
  • The fictional label is visible and no real personal data is included.

Use the course to fix a specific gap

Choose the basic task you found hardest, such as organizing files or communicating clearly online, and use the official course as your next learning step. Keep your sample beside your notes so learning produces something concrete. Describe only the training you actually finish and the work you actually create.
